The Great Tassel Debate

Minus a few minor finishing notes (weaving in ends, giving it a wash) my lovely scarf is complete!!  I'm so excited!  It's pretty awesome and I'm really motivated to knit more.  (Especially smaller projects that are more challenging!)  This will probably be the last scarf for awhile, but I felt that a scarf was the perfect gift for boyfriend's mom.  Now, I'm debating between putting on tassels or not.  I'm not sure if it'd be too frilly with the tassels, or look really awesome... I don't know.  Maybe simple is better?  I go through this often, because I love tassels, but I'm not sure if everyone loves them like I do.  I'm going with no.  What to do, what to do!!

In other news, I've officially decided to participate in a swap in January.  I'm pretty excited about that.  The theme is something silly like robots, but that definitely leaves a lot to the imagination.  I'm starting to think of ideas already!!  Or, if this Dexter themed swap gets going, I'll go for that one first.

I'm thinking about knitting a bunch of headbands to post on etsy, along with some new charms and clay things.  I've been meaning to get back to doing that stuff more, but I've been putting it off, just like everything else.  Work has really been taking it out of me, though the best remedy for that is doing something you love, so I need to get back to it.  I think I'm at a lack of ideas or structure though.  I got a request to do some breast cancer awareness ribbons and things, so I might make those up.  I didn't get to make the "Yay, I'm Gay!" buttons, but I still have time if I want to maybe do that tomorrow after shopping.

This will probably be my last post before I go off to the wedding, so I hope to come back with some fun pictures to put up!  (If you can't tell, I'm extremely tired, so sentences are running into each other or they're so vague/dull/irritating that there's probably no point in me even trying, but I'm determined to do what I set out to do.)  (Which hasn't been fully explained as of yet.)

I Am NOT A Procrastinator... Yes, I Am.

In Progress...
Puppy tail!

I am most definitely a procrastinator.  I don't like setting deadlines for anything, especially something I enjoy doing.  But I'm having to slow myself down on this knitting!!  I don't want to burn myself out on this scarf I'm so lovingly preparing for my boyfriend's mom.  She claimed to "just have it lying around" when she gave me this soft slightly expensive yarn, (Please note, my version of expensive yarn is anything over $5.)  but she forgot to take the recently dated receipt out of the bag she gave it to me in.  Also, I think I picked that yarn out last time we were shopping together, but then put it back because it was too expensive.  Either way, she gave me like 4 skeins of this yarn and instead of making something for myself with it, I decided to use half of it and make her a nice scarf for the approaching fall season.  It's my first real lace project, and first scarf I've ever completed without throwing it in the trashcan 48 times.  (I hate knitting scarves.)  I'm over half done with it, and it's done in sets of 8 row repeats, so getting through 8 rows takes roughly 15-20 minutes, so I get through episodes of Family Guy, American Dad, whatever else comes on.  I do love my Thursday night comedies, but this Thursday, I'll be spending it packing whilst watching my shows (Who doesn't love Parks and Rec??!!) so I need to get this done before we leave.  I've got like 13 or so repeats plus a border to get done in 3 days, I think I've got this in the bag, but I decided to spread it out through a few days, because I have to wait to buy the yarn for the next project I plan on making. (Friday pay day.)  Though, I guess I could do tiny stash projects until then if I do get it done early... *Happily searches through Ravelry for more crap to knit!*

Can I Just Say...

Isn't this THE cutest??!! I sure think so! That's Ludo, he's my buddy. He's technically my roommate's dog, but he and I and the dog are a little family and we're happy that way.

I can't wait to start showing off all my crafty goodness. I knit, play around with polymer clay, beads, cook and bake, among other things. I'm looking forward to using this blog and other sites as a way to explore my interest in making things. I love to up/recycle, dumpster dive, thrift store shop, (that's where I get most of my materials!)and finding new ways to use something someone threw out. I live in a city where I can walk down the street any given day and probably find something in an alley or a street corner that could be useful. I've made a lot of things that are strewn about the house, and maybe sometime I'll go through and take photos because I never thought to document the process.

I'm a big ol' nerd, love video games, science related movies, science related things in general, I love the Science Channel, the History Channel, anything crime related, The Food Network, TV shows like Parks and Rec, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, and other comedy shows, Weeds, The Big C, and Dexter. Love me some Dexter.

I'm not too big into movies, but I have a list of favorites.. Anything with Gerard Butler, anything crime/con/killer related, although I'm not into horror movies. I like killing with a purpose? Haha.... *creepy* I love Anthony Hopkins, Martin Scorsese films, Quentin Tarantino films, Johnny Depp, Jack Black, Ana Farris, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, I loved Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Owen Wilson, Clive Owen, Jeff Bridges. There are more than I thought... Hahaha...

I think I'll keep updating this as I go along, to have a running record of what I like and dislike.
